What government system does Australia have?

I'm doing a report on australia and the five elements of culture and i was wondering what system of government australia runs under? i searched and it came up as a monarchy but is it a democratic or republican sort of thing? as you can see, i'm confused! so if you could respond ASAP that would be great! thank you!
