Why is it the preachers of democracy often haven't learned it themselves?

The U.S. needs to stay out of things (foreign countries) that don't concern us, and most countries are none of our concern. Besides, if you think there is ANY true democracy, then you don't know what democracy is. The U.S. is not a true democracy.
