Is love more important than happiness?

When I say love I mean all kinds of love. Romantic. Platonic. Familial. Love of the self. Love of anything. Love seems to bring happiness but loving someone or something can make you unhappy sometimes. And yet we continue to love. Does that mean that we human being value love above the feeling of happiness? What are your thoughts?
