Some poetry help, please... The Scarlet Letter and Anne Bradstreet.?

I have to write a poem of what might have happened if Anne Bradstreet had been an observer of Hester Prynne's public shame. There has to be a metaphor, simile and imagery. I'm really having a hard time writing this. If anyone could give me some ideas or send some helping links that would be great. Also, do poems have to rhyme? I don't think they do but Anne Bradstreet's did. Is that what this ignment wants? Thank you.
