Should I become an independent adjuster?

I have been with an insurance company for a little over a year. I am 25 years old, and the salary I am pulling barely pays the bills. I have been deployed by an ind. firm, but I just dont know if I should do it. I know I lose my benefits etc, but I also know Katrina made a lot of people fat, and can tell Ike is going to do the same thing. Everyone I have talked to says go for it, but I would also like opinions from those I do not know. Thanks in advance for your input
